We are a team of physicians, Masters level therapists, and registered dietitians dedicated to providing a foundation of knowledge to individuals, and their
emotional growth, healing and balanced living. Each individual is treated with dignity, respect and compassion in an innovative, intensive, state-of-the-art program that effectively combines a sophisticated model of psychotherapy, nutritional restoration and psychiatric oversight within a safe and therapeutic setting.

Devorah Rodgers, M.A., MFT, Clinical Supervisor/Primary Therapist
As a Primary Therapist and Clinical Supervisor for the Partial Day Treatment Program at A New Journey, Devorah conducts individual therapy, group therapy and facilitates the experiential outings. She meets each client where they are and through recovery-focused therapy helps to empower clients to make the necessary changes for recovery. She teaches her clients positive coping skills. She is a certified EMDR practitioner, and works with clients to help them cope with anxiety and PTSD symptoms. She also practices DBT and Mindfulness with clients in order to help them reorient themselves to the present and help them manage depression and/or anxiety.
A licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Devorah earned her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Marina del Rey, CA. She also holds masters in Fine Arts in Screenwriting and Directing from Columbia University in New York, NY. She received her BA in English Literature from UC Berkeley in Berkeley, CA. She is currently a member of CAMFT and EMDRIA.
Prior to joining A New Journey, Devorah worked at Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services. As a therapist and clinical supervisor, she worked with at-risk teens and pre-teens in their non-public school. She also has a private practice where she sees adults, couples and individuals.
Douglas W. Brown, M.A., MFT, Primary Therapist
As a Primary Therapist for the Intensive Outpatient Program at A New Journey, Doug works with individuals, families, and groups in a collaborative setting focusing on the psychological, emotional, and relational difficulties associated with eating disorders. Working with his clients he strives to challenge the forces that lead them into isolation, and empower them to remember forgotten aspects of their identity, bringing them closer to restoring their true self.
He holds his Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a focus on Addictive Disorders from Alliant International University in Scripps Ranch. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University Of Washington in Seattle and holds certificates in the treatment of Chemical Dependency and Sex Therapy.
Prior to joining the A New journey team Doug worked at a holistic medical practice in San Diego, The Center for Health and Wellbeing. Working in conjunction with physicians, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, and therapists he focused his attention on individuals and families struggling with substance issues and members and the GLBT community.
Marcela Accioly Lugli, M.A - Primary Therapist
Working in a variety of clinical settings, Marcela developed her passion for helping children and adults struggling with mental illness and behavioral health issues. Marcela works as a primary therapist at A New Journey, where she is responsible for seeing clients on an individual basis and leading group therapy. She is passionate and determined when it comes to working with her clients. She is driven to engage with her clients and eager to learn about them and their stories. She is by her client’s side as a support through their healing and self discovery path. She works with her clients so they gain awareness and insights about their behaviors. Marcela received her B.S in Psychology from University of Sao Paulo Brazil and has her Clinical Psychologist degree and license from University of Sao Paulo Brazil. She received her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Santa Barbara.

Teri Zartman, MA, LMFT, Intake Coordinator
Teri has worked with eating disorders and in the mental health field for over a decade. Prior to coming to A New Journey, she worked with adults and adolescents as a social worker, elementary school-based counselor for Richstone Family Center and eating disorder intake counselor at Del Amo Hospital. A licensed Marriage and Family Therapy counselor, Teri received her B.A. from University of California, Irvine and her MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles. As Intake Coordinator at A New Journey, Teri conducts thorough assessments with each potential client, discusses different treatment options, and helps the client choose the program best suited to meet their unique needs. She enjoys volunteering her time lecturing at a Diabetes Support Group on Emotional Eating.

Melissa Reilly: Utilization Review/Human Resources
Melissa has worked in addictions, recovery and the behavioral health field for over 7 years. Prior to joining A New Journey she worked at Visions in human resources and operations and at Action Family Counseling in utilization review, intake and as a counselor. She has a passion for the industry and brings dependability and precision to her role at A New Journey. Melissa works directly with the insurance companies as an advocate for the clients allowing them to stay focused on their recovery. She is consistent and strong willed when dealing with insurance companies. Melissa fights hard for our clients because she believes the longer a client remains in treatment the better their chances are for recovery. She received her bachelor's degree from Antioch University in 2009 and graduated on the dean's list. She is working towards her master's of Psychology.

Erin Deamos, Office Manager
Erin began her career working as an Emergency Medical Technician on an ambulance in Los Angeles County. After getting a good foundation working in the emergency medical field she decided to bring her experience into a hospital setting working as an Emergency Department Unit Coordinator working in a case management capacity. She then went on to serving the community as a police and fire dispatcher for Los Angeles County. She is in the process of earning her Bachelors of Science in Human Services Management from University of Phoenix. As Office Manager for A New Journey, she is responsible for organizing and coordinating office operations and procedures. She is the first face the clients see when entering the office and the first voice they hear on the phone. Erin’s dedication, compassion, and organization is invaluable to the A New Journey team.
